sunday school sessions off to a great start!
Highland,
Our Fall Sunday School Sessions are underway! I could not be more proud of us! To see us, as a church, commit to the growth of one another is earnest love in action! Good job, Highland!
“By wisdom a house is built, and by understanding it is established; by knowledge the rooms are filled with all precious and pleasant riches” (Proverbs 24:3-4).
How I asked the Lord to grant us wisdom in the building of our new home. How I pleaded with Him to fill the rooms – and He has proven faithful to do so! So much so, that we had to house one of our classes in the red-brick sanctuary. Mike Hare, thanks for being such a team player and taking one for the team! We appreciate you.
If you missed last Sunday, that’s okay. You are welcome to jump in midstream! As Simon Sinek so plainly stated: A community is a group of people who agree to grow together. Jump in a group and let’s all grow together! We meet Sunday mornings at 9am. This session is 12 weeks long and will end October 27th.
This Fall Session includes:
Classroom 1: 0-2 year olds in the Church Nursery
Classroom 2: 3 and 4 year olds in the First Green Room
Classroom 3: Kindergarten-Second Grade Class in the Second Green Room
Classroom 4: Third-Fifth Grade Class in the Yellow Room
Classroom 5: Tweens & Teen Boys: Red Room
Classroom 6: Women’s Bible Study: Second Orange Room
Classroom 7: Men’s Bible Study (Ongoing throughout the year): First Orange Room
Classroom 8: Tweens & Teen Girls: Blue Room
Red-brick Sanctuary: The Truth Project (begins at 8:45)
Dining Facility: Life Class Devotion (Ongoing throughout the year)
As we look forward to the upcoming Spring Session, if you are interested in leading a class, please let me know. We will discuss. Again, thank you all who’ve made this semester possible.
highland-style yard sale this saturday
This Saturday morning we will hold a Yard “Giveaway” (our version of a Yard Sale) to offer support to our neighbors! Thanks to those who’ve worked hard to gather these items to offer to those in our community. It will be held from 9am-12pm along 5th Avenue, right in front of our Cafe’.
communion this sunday
We will hold Communion followed by our Agape Feast on August 18th. Our gathering to hold the Lord’s Supper is to attune our hearts to the sacrifice Jesus has offered for us, then respond in abounding gratitude.
agape Feast (Film Crew will be present)
Following Communion, we will all gather for our Agape Feast. Let’s also be prepared to welcome guests. The documentary film crew that was with us this past Spring will be returning. Additionally, we will welcome others who are part of this Sundance Film – folks from MercyMed and from Micah’s Promise. We will all eat together, while the film crew captures our time of fellowship (filming will not take place during service or communion).
highland cafe update
Speaking of snack food, our Highland Cafe continues to see more and more visitors! Any support would be appreciated. From pastries, to bottled water, to K-cups. Even more importantly, it’s an outpost for ministry. As our cafe door is open wide with a welcome from Jesus Christ, leaders from our church are praying with those who come through! Christ is being proclaimed! Thanks to all who’ve stepped up and gotten involved.

hank shelby to lead us in worship
Sunday, August 25th, our very own Hank Shelby will be leading us during corporate worship. Billy and I have had the pleasure of meeting with Hank in order to hear his heart on how leading us in song flows out of a personal heart of worship. Hank’s tender and pure heart for the glory of God will resonate, as he leads us in corporate worship, Highland. Let’s welcome Hank as he takes part in this role.
I love you, Highland.
