our series through matthew

This Sunday’s Text: Matthew 5:31—42

As we take another step through our journey of Matthew, I’m aiming to cover Divorce, Oaths, Retaliation & Loving our Enemies, possibly.  Wow! These passages continually convict and challenge me personally —“be holy as I am holy” — resonates through my own heart as I prep.

How I rejoice over the deliverance Jesus has afforded me from the depravity that once held residence within my heart! Now, how I cry out longingly for more of the Lord’s presence to permeate my soul.

Reading through a book of prayer written by Spurgeon he wrote (and I am paraphrasing):  When first coming to know the Lord, we rejoiced over His mercy; now, in knowing Him, our hearts rejoice over His justice, His holiness, His righteousness.

The takeaway for me is that, when we first are being delivered by the Lord, we celebrate His mercy. Over time, in communing with Him, our hearts continue to enjoy His character altogether.  Certainly proves true in my life. How I long to be holy as He is holy.

How I long for us to all, Highland, to cherish sharing in the beauty of the heart of Christ.  Sinners, as we all are, we come to Him, poor in spirit, partaking of and rejoicing within the riches of Christ Jesus.  Looking forward to seeing you Sunday so we can do just that!

Highland cafe’

The Highland Cafe’ continues to open wide our doors with a welcome from Jesus Christ and a warm cup of coffee. Each weekday morning from 8:30-11:30 offers you the chance to come and serve our neighbors, in honor of our Lord. You can also enjoy a cup of coffee, too! Come, serve and be served, all, in the name of Christ Jesus. Furthermore, snacks and coffee essentials, like cream and sugar, would be most appreciated.
