“When the hour came, He reclined at the table, and the apostles with Him. 15 Then He said to them, “I have fervently desired to eat this Passover with you before I suffer. 16 For I tell you, I will not eat it again until it is fulfilled in the kingdom of God.” 17 Then He took a cup, and after giving thanks, He said, “Take this and share it among yourselves. 18 For I tell you, from now on I will not drink of the fruit of the vine until the kingdom of God comes” (Luke 22:14-18, HCSB).
Verse 22:19 says: “And He took bread, gave thanks, broke it, gave it to them, and said, “This is My body, which is given for you. Do this in remembrance of Me.”
‘Do this in remembrance of Me…’
Jesus tells His disciples to remember that, like this bread, His body is being broken on that cross to absorb their sin into His body. This is in order to pay for their sin; to, ultimately, absorb the wrath of God as the sacrificial lamb, who takes away their sin and the sin of the world!
When Jesus then rose from the grave, anyone who repents of their sin, declaring Jesus to be Lord, is forgiven and will be made right with God, through Jesus, and will inherit eternal life.
Today, Highland, we remember the resurrection by celebrating our Victor, Jesus! How do we celebrate Him? By remaining submitted to His Lordship, abiding in agreement with the Holy Spirit that indwells those who know Jesus as Lord and keeping with the fruit of repentance.
Highland, let us press on to know Jesus and make Him known!
